In 2011, the Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell Massachusetts became the home of Marrimack Valley's premier printshop and project space for contemporary printmaking - the Western Avenue Press (former MHM Studios). At WAP, our mission is to provide a state-of-the-art printmaking facility to the community of artists in and around the Greater Boston Area, with a special focus on our growing artist community in the city of Lowell.

 

Since it's establishment in 2011 WAP has been collaborating with many artists and designers from all directions of fine art and artisanry. We have been focussing on master printing and collaborations for artists working in the filed of fine art printmaking, portfolio creation, customized solutions for art-exhibitions and prototyping for small business retail products. Fine art prints made at Western Avenue Press have been internationally exhibited and published.

 

In 2015 Western Avenue Press relocated to a new spot, an open space concept printshop in an industrial loft. We launched WAP-Editions, a retail platform for limited edition prints and products, made by artists working in collaboration with WAP. We also opened a integrated gallery space to present artwork made in our facility. WAP hosts printmaking exhibitions and events throughout the year.

 

Western Avenue Press is operated by printmaker and director Markus Haala who graduated in Fine Art Printmaking from the Willem de Kooning Acedemy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
